A Wedding: Andrew & Elisenda Farison

Elisenda and Andrew. Lovers of Jesus, nature, photography, great music, and each other. I've had the sweet privilege of photographing their wedding day. Their wedding was my first time shooting by myself, with the help of my husband, who was just my betrothed at the time. It really was amazing how much they trusted me to capture their big day. Elisenda is a photographer, and has studied photography in school, so I was a bit intimated (and flattered) when she asked me to be her photographer.

The wedding day. San Bernardino never felt so calm, even if the wind didn't want to keep quiet. While the wind gusted outside through the Inland Empire, inside her childhood home the beautiful bride was calm, collected, and ready to be a wife. That's what I loved about photographing Elisenda. She couldn't care less about all the details of the day, she trusted everyone she loved to help her get through it. And she knew that by the end of it all, she would be riding off into the sunset with her new husband, the love of her life.

The ceremony. Murillo Family Observatory. Windy, warm, and peaceful. As Elisenda and Andrew recited their vows and kissed into a life-long togetherness, it was evidence of how possible it is for a man to love his wife, just as Christ loves His church. When the ceremony ended that's when their life began - their love for each other glowed through their faces as they walked down the aisle as the new Mr. and Mrs. Farison.

The reception. THEIR NEW BACKYARD, homemade cake, eucalyptus leaves, a taco cart, and every person that the newly Mr. and Mrs. Farison loved. (And their photographers, of course). Sunset was creeping over the San Bernardino mountains and their first dance was to "Turning Page" by Sleeping At Last (which I walked down the aisle to a few months later in our wedding). My favorite part of a wedding is the first dance. The words of the song the couple chooses resonates in all of our hearts,  and it's as if the couple forgot where they were for  three minutes and a few seconds just staring into each others eyes. Not even really dancing. Just holding each other, swaying side to side.

The send-off. Classic. Dried flowers, running for the car that has the word "Newlyweds" written all over it, and the sunset. Mr. and Mrs. Farison made their way to their Santa Barbara honeymoon. The last photo I shot was of Elisenda with a huge smile on her face in the passenger seat, as her new husband drove them away to forever. Love.

Here are some of my favorite photos from that wonderful day.
