ABOUT

Hello, my name is Jayna Greenleaf-Perez and welcome to my little corner of the internet! This is a lifestyle blog about my adventures as Lane's wife, a daughter, a younger sister, a Counseling student, a worship leader, and a friend- all engulfed by being a follower of Jesus Christ and learning to be more like Him every day.

I started this blog in 2013 as an outlet for my growing photography hobby, and for my parents back home on Oahu, Hawaii to keep up with my busy life in Southern California. But most importantly, this blog's purpose is to inspire and encourage every person who stumbles upon it. I'm not a fashionista, nor guru of any type. Consider this space as my art journal!

That young man next to me in the photo above is my handsome husband, Lane. We got married on May 24, 2014 and have been loving every second of it! Lane is a talented musician and worship leader. I'm so proud of him, and even prouder of being his wife. I'm a lucky gal.

We currently live in the beautiful state of Oregon, and have made our home in Portland since June 2014. I'm studying full-time for a Master of Arts in Counseling degree at Multnomah University and working part-time at my school. Lane is the Worship Director at our church and the Director of the Reality Project at the Portland Pregnancy Resource Centers. He actually speaks to teens at high schools about sexual integrity. God has brought us to Portland for a reason and we've been blessed on this incredible journey so far. We're thankful for our family and friends who cheer us on and continue to sow into our lives. We're definitely reaping the benefits of all of their prayers.

Thank you, sincerely.

Yours truly,
Jayna

FAQ

Why Yours Truly, Jayna?
I sign every e-mail, letter, memo, and note with Yours Truly, Jayna. With the exception of letters to Lane ending with With all my love, Jayna. But Yours Truly, Jayna just stuck, and I like the way it sounds when it's said out loud.

What kind of camera do you use?
I have three cameras! All in the Canon family. Depending on my mood and type of day, I either shoot with a Canon Rebel T2iCanon 60D, or Canon 6D. I also own quite a few lenses. For my Canon Rebel and Canon 60D cameras I usually shoot with a Sigma 30mm f1.4, or a Sigma 18-55mm f2.8. And for my Canon 6D my go-to lenses are the Canon 50mm f1.4, Canon 35mm f2, Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, and Canon 85mm f1.8.

What software do you use to edit your photos?
I use Photoshop Lightroom 4 and edit most of my photos with VSCO Preset 1.

How much do you charge for portraits?
Please click here and it will redirect you to my Investment page! I really hope I get to work with you in the future!

How long have you been behind the camera?
Almost 3 years! My first camera was a Nikon D3000 (my sister's old camera that she let me borrow), and since then I've become fascinated with the art of photography and I love being able to share the beauty that I see through my camera lens.

Where are you from?
I'm from Mililani, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Born and Raised Hawaii girl! #cheehee. I moved to Southern California, specifically to Orange County in 2009 to study English and Music at Vanguard University. I lived in California for 5 years until we moved to Portland in June 2014.

Why did you move to Portland when you're from Hawaii?
Lane and I moved here because we love it here! We love the weather, the people, and the pace. We've had a huge heart for the PNW and have felt God calling us to do our ministry here. There's a longer version of this story, so if you'd like to know more, please e-mail us!

How long have you and Lane been together?
Lane and I have been together since February 2010. He actually asked me to be his girlfriend the day after Valentine's day. Cheesy, I know!

How did you and Lane meet?
Lane and I had all of our Freshman core classes together at Vanguard University. I mean it when I say ALL. Since we had every class together we already knew each other's names from hearing one another say "here!" when our professors would take attendance. So when people ask how we met, our response is always: "we don't actually know."

There are multiple situations where we could count as our first meeting. But my favorite would be the night he wandered through my freshmen hall and found my door open. Lane walked in without saying hello and asked if my roommate was in. She wasn't, but he stayed. Lane took a seat next to me and talked to me as if we were life-long friends. He talked to me about his obsession with Star Trek, how he was apart of the drum line at his high school, and how he really wanted to visit Hawaii someday (since I'm from there). I'll tell you right now, our relationship didn't start off with the love at first sight gushy stuff. Lane was my best friend before we started dating. He thought I was pretty and I thought he was handsome, but we were just friends.

Our friends, and even my older sister, kept saying how cute it would be if Lane and I dated. In a brother and sister kind of way, Lane and I laughed at the notion. Finally, our friendship grew and kept growing into what it is now today. He's the best person I know. My favorite memory of Lane before we became friends was at our very first morning chapel at Vanguard. The campus pastor asked a series of questions to all of us freshmen to get us pumped about being there for the next 4 years.

The last question he asked was, "Who here thinks they'll find there spouse in college?"... I didn't flinch. But to my left I saw a hand go straight up so fast and had to see who it was. That hand belonged to Lane. Who knew, I'm that girl he raised his hand for.

So how did Lane propose?!
AH! I love telling this story, but you can click here and here to read how he popped the question!

So I hear you sing, do you have a Youtube channel?
Yes I sing, and no I don't have a Youtube channel dedicated for my singing. Although, I do have  a channel, here, of old videos I put together when I was a teenager (weird, I'm not a teenager!). But if you do want to hear me sing, my Dad is all about sharing his daughter's talents on his personal Youtube account, here.
